Nerd Alert: This wine is 60% Napa Valley and 40% Sonoma County. That got me thinking about other differences between the two areas . For example: Napa has around 43,000 acres while Sonoma has over 70,000 acres. Tastings in Napa go in average for about $20-$50 dollars while in Sonoma they go for $15-$20. Napa is known mainly for it’s Cabernets, Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays while Sonoma is known for multiple types of terroir, microclimates and a more diverse wallet of varietals and styles. In the end, Sonoma is a little bit country still, while Napa is now a little bit rock & roll.

Personal Note: I am not a big fan of this grape’s profile. I have tried it many times, from many locations and producers and I haven’t been able to say otherwise. But for some unascertained reason, I keep trying it. It’s like I’m on a perpetual search to prove myself wrong. Maybe someday. This is the way.
