This grape is known as a neutral grape from what I’ve read and I can confirm the profile presented in the wine was quite neutral but I did pick some hints of apple aromas and flavors.

Nerd Alert: It was introduced to Loire in 1709 after a vicious winter killed many of the Loire’s vines, around the same time it was expelled from its home in Burgundy. It buds early and vigorously, meaning that, even in the event of spring frosts, a second budding is still capable of producing a reasonable yield. Its major vulnerability is its susceptibility to mildew, though this affliction is less likely in the cool climate.
Personal Note: Before I delved into the ethos of wine grapes, you could have told me Muscadet was the same as Muscadelle and I would have probably nodded along. They were wines I didn’t drink or had very little access to. Learning just recently that it was an AOP from France was like a wake up call in a hotel after checkout time had passed. But you live you learn. This grape is known as a neutral grape from what I’ve read and I can confirm the profile presented in the wine was quite neutral but I did pick some hints of apple aromas and flavors. The acidity was not above medium but what’s even more important, it disappeared very quickly from my glass. Now I’m no expert, but I think that means I liked it. Three years old, I think I would have drink this earlier. When I bought this I don’t recall seeing the grape locally. At the current time I know it is by at least one distributor.
