I use this phrase again even though it can be tricky to implement, but it was closer to sweet than dry.

Nerd Alert: Vermentino di Sardegna is a regional DOC covering Sardinia in its entirety. Quite how Vermentino arrived in Sardinia is not entirely clear. The variety has clear connections with the northwest of Italy. There is a wide variety of soil types throughout the Vermentino di Sardegna DOC with vineyards found on pockets of limestone and marl. There is uncertainty over Vermentino’s genetic and geographical origins.
Personal Note: This was one of the wines I took for my birthday weekend at the beach a few weeks back. It is without a doubt one of my favorite places to enjoy good white and sparkling wines. This was also the third of the V’s from Italy I mentioned early in this milestone. Together with Verdicchio and Vernaccia they make for an interesting trio to try and compare notes on. From studying the grape a few things got my attention. One was, the synonym Favorita which translates to favorite used in Piemonte and there seems to still be debate as to wether they are or not the same grape.
As per the wine itself, I enjoyed it because it was not as light as I expected and the acidity was well balanced. Now the key for me here was that it was, and I use this phrase again even though it can be tricky to implement, closer to sweet than dry. And again it could just be the fruit which was mainly pears and peaches for me that was very pronounced I just felt some sweetness. However it also had a nice minerality that reminded me it was a dry wine. It can be so confusing sometimes to try a wine that you know is dry yet experience something that messes with the assessment. I can’t talk about the color because I wasn’t really drinking out of a wine glass (love my yeti) and the blue color in front of me was the protagonist of the day.
