Road To 500 Grapes
After learning about Wine Century, then reading Godforsaken Grapes, I decided I want to document my experiences with every grape I encounter and since the pandemic started in 2020, I decided to extend that search to 500. It will be quite a journey, but I'm sure the learning alone will be worth it.
#52 Negroamaro – 448 grapes left
I’m falling for Puglia and it’s wines. This wine was very approachable, hints of vanilla and long on palate.
#51 Piquepoul Blanc – 449 grapes left
A new year, a new grape. Great acidity and aroma.
#50 Cabernet Sauvignon – 450 grapes left
Young colt that holds it’s own. Drinks now or cellar for a while. Great fruit on palate. And with this wine that makes 50.
#49 Nebbiolo – 451 grapes left
Never thought a Nebbiolo outside of Italy would leave such an impression. Such a good wine.
#48 Trepat – 452 grapes left
Unexpected nuances on this 100% Trepat. Exciting to drink. Visca Barça.
#47 Arneis – 453 grapes left
Never tried Arneis before. Beautiful nose. Still crisp after four years. Impressed.
#46 Dolcetto – 454 grapes left
My first Dolcetto. Lots of earth notes. Some black fruit. Really dry.
#45 Albillo – 455 grapes left
Aromatic yet austere on palate, elegant without fanfare. Amazing winery.
#44 Falanghina – 456 grapes left
Such acidity. Little on the nose, but big in mouth. Ancient grape
