Road To 500 Grapes
After learning about Wine Century, then reading Godforsaken Grapes, I decided I want to document my experiences with every grape I encounter and since the pandemic started in 2020, I decided to extend that search to 500. It will be quite a journey, but I'm sure the learning alone will be worth it.
#32 Syrah – 468 grapes left
Full body, dark fruit, long finish. This beast lasted 3 days perfectly.
#31 Feteasca Regala – 469 grapes left
Very floral, medium acidity, quite impressed with price/quality.
#30 Cortese – 470 grapes left
Subtle lime nose, high acidity, refreshing, short on palate.
#29 Sangiovese – 471 grapes left
What an elegant mid body wine. Silky smooth, 16 years and drinking splendidly. Everyone gave it 92+ points.
#28 Garnacha – 472 grapes left
I love big brand low price big wines. It was even better the day after both on nose and palate.
#27 Carmenere – 473 grapes left
Aromas of green peppers. Once upon a time I was falling for this grape, now we are only falling apart.
#26 Riesling – 274 grapes left
This type of Riesling is my Goldilocks. Always on point on color, nose and palate.
#25 Touriga Nacional – 475 grapes left
Dark fruit was there but aroma wasn’t. Very tempranilloesque.
#24 Grechetto – 376 grapes left
Medium minus body, stone fruits, long-lived on palate.
